After the Winter Olympics, the Alpine World Ski Championships, held every two years, are certainly the most important event attended by the world elite of skiing. After taking place in Cortina d'Ampezzo in Italy in 2021, they will be hosted by France in 2023 at the heart of the ski domain of Les 3 Vallées, the largest in the world.

For the very first time, two resorts will accommodate the six disciplines (Downhill, Super G, Slalom, Giant Slalom, Parallel and Combined) disputed by the world's most accomplished skiers: the Roc de Fer ski-run in Méribel for women's and parallel events, and the Éclipse ski-run in Courchevel for men's events. While the first, now legendary, was designed for the Albertville Winter Olympics of 1992, the second, intended for future World Championships, has only been tested in an official competition for the final of the Alpine Ski World Cup in March, 2022.

Requiring commitment, technical exploits, and speed, it promises some spectacular achievements! From February 5th to 19th, 2023, the Courchevel Méribel Alpine World Ski Championship will draw over 150,000 spectators in a high-voltage ambiance. Locally born Alexis Pinturault, but also Matthieu Bailet, Johan Clarey, Clara Direz, Romane Miradoli, and Mathieu Faivre are all French athletes who will be competing at home this winter.
