I grew up in the mountains, in Font-Romeu in the Pyrénées Orientales. So, I began skiing at a very early age and continued every winter until I was 26. I was a good skier. Some of my friends even became ski instructors. Personally, I always felt more comfortable in swimming pools than on the slopes. That’s why I was drawn to becoming a swimmer.
I have been fortunate enough to stay at Le Strato on two occasions. The atmosphere is just like that of a family chalet but with all the advantages of a luxury hotel. At Le Strato, the service is extraordinary and staff cheerful, friendly and helpful. And of course, there is also the ski room right on the slopes. Brilliant! Despite all the luxury of the resort, Le Strato offers an authentic experience in Courchevel. You immediately feel at home. This is the aspect of the hotel I particularly appreciated. And the food is divine!
For me, the position of Courchevel, in the heart of the 3 Valley ski domain, is undoubtedly its strong point. The fact that you can ski on different slopes every day is great, particularly over a weekend. From that aspect, the resorts in the Pyrenees are very different.
Certainly! I recommend the skating rink Patinoire du Forum in Courchevel 1850 for a family activity as well as the Galerie Bartoux in the Espace Diamant to admire Richard Orlinski’s latest works. If you like cheese, I suggest Chez Ma Cousine, rue de la Croisette. And for sports equipment, the Bernard Orcel ski shop without hesitation.
